Hey y'all:
so I replaced my rubber hoses with Braided steel ones from Allison's. They did not come with copper washers, but I assumed I needed them, so I fit them, top & bottom. Now I find they are leaking.
What did I miss? somebody? anybody? Buehler?

Re: Copper washers on my braided brake lines?
did you anneal the copper washers? Heat them up till red (I use the kitchen gas stove top at the end of a coat hanger) then put them in cold water??? I always do this to any copper washer I use.
Cheers David

Re: Copper washers on my braided brake lines?
I used new copper washers. I'm reading in a few threads where Majicwrench suggests it's not unusual for new ones to weep abit. He recommends a few tighten / loosen / tighten sequences.
I'll try this.
But tell me something else:
my banjo bolts do not have a round flare on them at the base that would seal against the washer. they are hexagonal all the way down. Is this correct for these cars? Or has a PO gone and replaced with a non-standard?

they seal better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annealing_(metallurgy), I've never had a weeping problem when I have followed this process.fiat218 wrote:y?divace73 wrote:did you anneal the copper washers?
