Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
Oreilley's has started carrying a "ceramic" type paint (that might just be marketing, not chemical ) for calipers.

this is my first go with it, so we'll see how it turns-out.

The stock steel 5mm spacers are 1/2 pound each. You added another pound to unsprung weight, consider getting some alloy spacers made. How do you screw in the wheel studs without an allen drive hole? And what are the wires aroud the caliper brackets near the sliding wedges?

Constructive criticism, and two honest questions that I now have the answers for, thanks.

Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
The clips in the photo aren't installed correctly, both ends go in the hole in the slide, not one in one out.

Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
There are two types of caliper sliding wedge retainer clips. Original clips were an Omega shape and both ends go in the hole, aftermarket "K" type clips like the ones shown are installed correctly as shown.

Possibly, but I've never lost a brake slide when the clips were installed correctly!maytag wrote:shouldn't you be using a semicolon after "correctly", instead of a comma?

Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
No, I worked on military helicopters for 9 years, I'm all for lock wiring, when required. I worked in a Fiat workshop servicing these cars when they were new, so unless the bloke on the assembly line was installing them incorrectly, I "assume" I'm correct.maytag wrote:your implication, then, is that you think a safety-wired clip, installed as you see above, is "less safe" than what you "think" is correct?
huh.
ok.

Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
Hold On Big Fella!! No need to get Pissy here. I thought the same thing about the clips, as I have only used the Omega style clips. I don't see that "131" was slamming you. I know you are sensitive to what happen with Steve C. in the past.
Someone really needs to come up with a sarcasm font.

Re: Project creep... AGAIN!
My Pastor wife tells me that "Kumbaya" is an African word/term that translated means "come by here, Lord". Gives me new respect for it. Terrible song though... {:^)
