Re: Weber 32/36 DFEV Upgrade: Game, but Ignorant
Hi,
Got Mark's kit, Thanks!, should have linkage resolved this weekend.
Just one more thing...
Charcoal canister had two hoses running to the carb, one over the float chamber, one to the base; what of them now?
Thanks,
Mark

the rod is longer than needed. You can either put an S bend in it or cut to the length you need

Yes, I assumed I have to cut the rod you provided.
One more question (the car's in its winter digs right now): Will the bellcrank ballstud unscrew, or need I drill it out?
Thanks again,
Mark

Thanks again. The problem I ran into is the new Webers, and I'll guess EMPIs, don't come with any sort of ball stud and the EMPI universal kit, which far too many people claim "is all you need", includes only one and it doesn't fit the stock FIAT throttle rod.
Mark's kit includes two bolt-on ball stud and socket joints and a correctly threaded rod to link the two. A few extra nuts to provide a thread chaser after cutting and a purchase for fine tuning the length, and "Bob's your Uncle".
Thanks,
Mark

i had to order a new end for my throttle. there was no ball on my carb. and my rod was a tad long so it was pre bend already so i just did a little bending to make it work
now i need to just cover the exhaust port on the intake side and block off the water line that was used for the water cool choke and then get a longer hose for my vacuum advance

Come on warmer weather, I've still got mine setting on the bench waiting to be installed.
These have been very active posts (about the 32/36) & I think any questions I may have had have been answered for me.
You gotta love this site, seems most times when an issue arises there has just been a post about it & all I have to do is read to get the answers.
Let us all know what you think of this new carb compared to the old, performance wise.

I'm going to post a recap when I've finished, still need to "man-rate" the linkage, but: I have put about 15miles on my '78 CS1 since installing the Weber 32/36 DFEV: Just DO it.
I'd previously replaced the stock exhaust manifold with an earlier 4-2-1 setup, gaining a fuller, flatter torque curve. The 32/36 DFEV adds power everywhere. In addition to even more torque it now revs willingly and even gleefully through the redline. And the sound, through its NOS Abarth exhaust, is near perfection. ...If only it had a 9.5:1 CR.
The car feels again Italiano; eager always, con brio!
Ciao,
Mark

as i changed over, the dip stick is leaking on the bottom. i have not looked at it yet but the oil bubbles up from the area, there must not be a rubber or what ever is suppose to be on the end
i will look at my old one and see what going on
