To All,

Should the electric cooling fan be still running after the car has be switched off and the keys removed ?
( 1981 Spider - FI)

Has someone wired the fan circuit directly to battery power or is this normal ?

Trying to ascertaining if it's going to be a problem in the future and whether I need to investigate futher and fix it !

I don't know about an 81 but I believe my 72 fan cuts off with the engine and is wired to a relay. It would be nice for it to run after the engine is off since that's when it really heats up.

The fan is independent of the ignition circuit and yes, if the temp in the radiator is high enough to have the fan triggered, it will continue to run after the engine is turned off.
