2L Intake Removal

Post by Kent124 »

After getting all seven bolts / nuts off is there a trick to getting the intake manifold off? Front end seems to be hitting a plate behind the timing belt. Do I need to bend the plate a bit to get it out or is there a magic technique?

you can remove the back cover or bend it out of the way

I may have found the issue. I believe the black shield behind the timing belt has a 90 degree bend in it and one of the bolts went through it. (The shield on the passenger side has a similar bent that a bolt goes through.)

Hopefully if I can bend the tab back it will free up the manifold. Fingers crossed :)

Looks like the driver's side cover is secured by the timing belt tensioning spring mechanism.

Looks like simply bending the tab didn't work.

Has anybody removed the driver's side rear timing belt cover?
