Which Carb question

I am going to be putting a full blown FI system on my car - engine is currently undergoing full rebuild - increased compression, balanced rods, lightened flywheel, etc. I am working with Jason to design an aftermarket injection/distribution system.

But, I want to start with a decent carb setup first - one, to breakin the motor, and two, to breakin everything else. Then I will have time to properly build my FI system.

I have the stock '79 stuff, but I'd prefer something better. Twin IDF's are not necessary, but what is the next best considering I will have cams, headers, etc. for better breathing.

if you just want to break in the engine you can run the stock 79 manifold and carb it's not going to have much power
but will get the job done . I broke in a 78 that way full race cams header pistons and took it easy with the stock
carb and manifold for a while .

You can pick up a 32/36 dfev for around $200 and run it on the stock 79 intake or pick up an 1800 intake for even better performance. You can also just run the stock carb as suggested but it's a dog.

I'd suggest the 1800 manifold and a 32/36 carb. Once you convert to FI you can sell these, so even if they cost more than the stock '79 setup, you'll get some of your money back.
