They show better numbers from those particular Empi's vs those particular Weber's. And they show them on 2 VW motors. No Jaguar or Ferrari motors. Not even on an old Toyota.

How about they test several hundred or thousand, on several hundred motors, like Weber has done for several decades?

I'm sorry, but one test of this level isn't proof that all their products are best. Just those 2 compared to the other 2, happen to be.

motors are just air pumps, it doesn't matter if that air is flowing through a Toyota, Nissan or Lada

Way to dumb it down there Mark. I'm sure the Formula 1 and NASCAR engineers think of their multimillion dollar engines as air pumps. And FYI, with just a little checking, neither of those pinnacles of racing have ever used Empi, but some did use Weber, in their "air pumps."

I get that you sell Empi's, but you don't build them so don't get so defensive. It's not like you invested part of your life designing them. May try telling them that your potential customers want real, unbiased testing with more than 2 items tested. It's not much to ask if they are serious.

you've completely missed the point, and I sell Webers as well as Empis. Anyone that wants to spend the extra money on Webers is welcome to do that. But to say the dyno test is bogus is just bs. The test is merely a comparison. I thought it was interesting, that's why I posted it

Isn´t funny how people have a tendency lately to doubt everything? Ben laden wasn´t killed, Barack obama wasn´t born in the US, the 11th of September plot, etc...
To me, your posting was really interresting.
Thanks Mark for posting it.

Thanks Mark for posting this. I understood it. Same performace 1/2 the price. Now I wish i would have bought that $40 dual manifold on craigslist a few months ago.

Hey Sparky, If ya wanna Weber, buy a Weber. I replaced my old Weber with a new Empi and i'm very happy with the quality and the Performance.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting the video on tuning. The new 32/36 empi that you just installed is awesome! I stalled a few times on the 101 on the way home, but when I got home, I simply tuned the throttle screw...runs great!

As others have alluded to, I don't think the point of the video is to show that EMPIs are vastly superior to Webers, but that they are not cheap copies with abysmal performance compared to the 'real deal.' My guess is that if they are manufactured with license by Weber, they are at least equal in performance. EMPI has been around the VW circles for years with a *mostly* good name. That said, I suspect there are some die-hards and purists out there that will accept nothing 'less' than genuine Weber on their cars.

If my mostly stock 2L could flow enough to take advantage of a twin-carb setup over the 34ADF I have on it now, I'd be a customer. Sadly, I doubt that's the case (even with Mark's street performance cams). I suspect the limits are dictated by the stock head and 8.1:1 (?) compression ratio.

RJ, my son ran twin 40,s on a high mileage stoch 1438 and it made a huge difference. Your motor would do well . Everyone should have a nice set of twins.
