Positive electric source

Post by Zoofly »

Where can I find an ignition controlled +12v/24V source besides the ignition coil? I have an electric water pump installed on my 78 and the wiring intructions says the following.

Connect the GREEN ‘Ignition’ wire to an ignition controlled +12V/24V source. If
necessary, the ‘Ignition’ wire may be spliced and soldered.
 The ignition source must be a constant +12V/24V when the key is in the ON
position. A manually switched +12V/24V source can also be used.
 DO NOT connect the ‘Ignition’ wire to the ECU or the ignition coils as this
can cause operational issues with the Controller or damage to the ECU.

Could I wire it to the Sepia ignition switch?

I'm guessing the wire that connects to the ignition "on" position of the ignition switch is used to operate a relay that in turn operates the electric water pump. I would use the unused "INT" terminal on the ignition switch. THe pink wire on the ignition switch is used for the ignition power. The "INT" terminals are used primarily for the cars lighting. There should be an unused terminal in the center of the ignition switch's terminals that you could connect to..
