Hood Pad Adhesive/install

I just bought the new hood pad set for my 77 from Auto Ricambi. Anybody have any tips fopr installing it? It is quite a bit oversized and will have to trim it. Is 3M spray adhesive good enough for the heat? I will tuck it in under the Sheetmetal lip as good as I can . Has anybody found a welting type trim that can go on that sheet metal edge that can trim it out ?
