Speedometer Cable Leaking

Post by Exit98 »

I've got a persistant oil drip from the trans. Having trouble figuring out from where. There are always drops on the speedometer cable knurled nut. Anyone with past experience with a leak from here? I've put teflon tape on the threads and tightened down the nut firmly and carefully but no change. There doesn't seem to be an O ring in there.

There is a seal that goes in there. You remove the cable and then there is a rubber between the housing and the shaft that the cable goes into. AR has them I have replaced mine and it works.

Mine did the same thing...bought the seal from Csaba at Autoricambi and no more leaks! I had no idea either...

Bringing an old thread back from the dead...
I too have a slow oil drip coming from the speedometer drive. I already replaced the seal with a new one from Autoricambi, and it still leaks a little bit. I know that replacement speedo cables come with an o-ring that helps band-aid the problem.

Does anyone know what size that O-ring is? I'd like to toss one in just to see if it will fix the last remaining bits of oil drip...

Thanks!
