Engine will no shut down

Post by Bornlucky »

Ok so I have a 1976 spider and it has not run in over 10 years. I find bad coil and change it and it fires right up. The problem is it will not turn off.
I notcie a problem as I hook up the battery the fuel pump runs without the key on the on position. Also my brake (e brake) light is on.
I have changed the fuel pump relay and still no shut down.
I also would like photos of the wires in the ingition and fuse box. Someone by passed the pink (small pink) and added a inline fuse.
Help anyone

It is very common for the fuel pump relay to be bypassed in these cars by prior owners. Do you have a schematic?

It might be a crossed wire in the fuse box. i swapped one trying to resolve another issue and it caused the issue youre having.

Yes I have a schmatic for the car, but some colors are not the same. I have been ID them. The fuse box seems to be played with. I havenoticed the they are 2 pink wire into the #9 port. Looks like a 10 gu and a 14 gu. The 14 gu has been cut and connected to another pink wire(this is not shown on the schmatic) it also has an inline fuse.
I will liio at the statrer relay wires and trace them.
I have also found several other wires that seem to be an addition I will try to find were they go to.
