Can a burned out tach be fixed

When I bought my "new" '75 spider the tach worked intermittently. The PO had some work done a local shop that admitted they had to take the car to someone else to "adjust" the carb. It wan't the only thing grossly out of adjustment. So during the course of adjusting the carb, points, timing and whatnot I the tach stopped working. I found 15V at idle on the + side of the coil so I ordered a voltage regulator. The wiring looks to be connected properly and i checked for power and ground and continuity from the coil. All that looks good. Everything else on the dash and tach works, just no needle movement of the tach. Is it possible the high voltage burned out the tach (power input or coil signal circuits)? Does it come apart without self destructing? Is it repairable (soldering and resistors and stuff), or should I just look for a replacement?

If it turns out to be the tach, and not sender or wiring, etc, then I think Palo Alto Speedometer can repair it for you.
