Wipers Also Baffle Me

While putzing with my new toys decided to explore the no-wiper situation. Successfully juiced the wiper motor and made the arms move, found the tab for fast and the tab for slow speeds in the motor connector. Then tried to test the connector on the harness from the engine bay into the cowl and that's when it went bad. Have only three female leads in this six position connector, and the wiper motor connector uses five of the six. There are also two more free floating wires exposed from the harness that were not inserted into the connector and both have power....and a third blue wire exiting the bundle looks like it was once a ground attached somewhere in the engine bay to a frame/nut. Problem is I have no idea how the original wires and harness were connected and where to start. Are there replacement connectors out there, and if so, am I still screwed on matching them up properly back to the source? Once they disappear into the bundle and firewall all appears lost. Welcome thoughts.
