Fuse Box Replacement

Post by jgremlin »

Hey All!

Simple question ...I seem to be having a lot if electrical problems (who doesn't) and it all seems to be stemming from my fuse box. I have the original European Fuse box in the car ( 71 Spider). So what to replace it with? Glass Tube style, Spade style or order another Euro style. Who has what? Also can. You send me a pic or at least list the order of fuses by Amps starting left to right...just want to make sure I am not missing something really basic here! I have Brad A.'s wiring diagram ...but didn't see a list by amperage on it. Thanks!!

I haven't replaced mine (on the to-do list), but here's an interesting article by someone who did:

The 1971 Owner's manual says that Fuse A (rightmost, the one that protects the clock, lighter, radiator fan, and the horn) is 16A, and all others are 8A.

Here's a stock fusebox if you decide to go the stock route:

Thanks everyone! Got it all set up right now. Replaced all the fuses...even the ones that looked ok and now I am at 90% up and running on my electrical system. My oil pressure gauge is out but I can see the sensor plug is broken, my wipers are still out...working on that still...and my speedo is out but Im sure that's the cable. Thanks for all the help!

Sorry for the duplicate info, didn't see vandor had already answered your question on fuses.

>My oil pressure gauge is out but I can see the sensor plug is broken,

If the sender is original, then likely it's broken.

> my wipers are still out...

The shafts can seize in the area where they come through the cowl. Before you look at the electrics, but sure the linkage moves freely.
