My '78 project is coming along swimmingly. Running in top fashion, suspension and steering all pretty much there, working on the interior before my final (big) expense of having her painted. Question. I'm probably not going to get her done before Winter and will be storing her in a garage in another city. Most likely from say November-March or April. Is it recommended to lift it onto jackstands? I'll have it on a trickle charger and Sta-bil will be in the tank, but I'm never sure about just letting it sit on the tires for that long.
What say you?

the jack stands are just so the car isnt sitting on the tires for a long time, so make sure you place them to where your shocks would as if it was sitting on the ground. you problably know this alreay but make sure you run the car to get the sta-bil into the carb. also keep the top up and latched, and keep something in the car to keep the pests out ( i know there will be a big thread on this. but i like to use fabric sheets (the good ones dont get cheep. your wife can use them in the spring for the clothes) other like moth balls I just dont like there smell ! )

Thanks. So basically place the stands as close to the wheels as possible?

put your jack stands directly under each shock. find some padding to put between the stand and the shock. i use closed cell foam.

I know I'm a bit of a contrarian but for 6 months, unless maybe you're in Alaska or something, storing a car indoors is no big deal. Definitely the stabil and the trickle charger (or just disconnect the battery and jump start it in the spring) but it can sit on its wheels, no need to jack it up. Couple extra pounds in the tires if you want.

Wash it and cover it, even with old sheets.

Definitey agree about mouse protection. Never tried the softener sheets but I've heard about them before. But I'd put a couple in the engine compartment and I might stuff up the air intake if you on a stock carb air filter. Write up a check list for spring (#3. remove rag from carb intake) even if its just 6 items.

Sounds good. I'm in the SF Bay Area, so no harsh winters, and the garage where it will be has no mice or critters, but I'll take precautions anyway.
