Restoreing rims

What's the best way to restore / cleanup my aluminum wheels ? I wanted to clean them up and put new center caps .

When i first got my car i used oven cleaner to get the dirt off. I worked very well and did not hurt the metal. If you go with this mothod do it in a very well venilated area!

take them to a powdercoater and have them dipped and repainted.

Oven cleaner sounds good I may try that then prime spray and clear coat . Does any one know where to get center cap stickers ?

they are the IRON CROSS RIMS Not even sure what they are made out of . are they painted ?

bought the primer ,paint ,and clear coat . going to try to refinish them this week
