I have a luggage rack on my 79, the car is in great shape and I getr a lot of compliments on the car. I think it makes the car look classy.

I've got one with and one without. I think I prefer without.

I like to see a nice rack once in a while  , but not on a spider.

I appreciate the opinions. I think I will go without. Just a little cleaner. Another question, I currently have tan door panels, I have been told that on the 74 they only came in black and these would be aftermarket. I know they have been that way since 81. Do later models fit the 74 door panels.?.?

So, Ted, are you a dearhunter? :P

I would think later models would fit. The only concern I would have is the mounting holes for the door panel clips. It seems odd 74 only had black. My 72 came with tan and so do later models. :?

It depends on the luggage rack style. I've seen some that are really nice looking and others that look pretty odd. I have found that I liked my 81 Spider that was red without the rack. I like my silver Spider better with it. I think the rack gives it more of a British roadster look, while it looks more like an Italian roadster without it.

I've wrestled with the same dilema, and left mine as is, without a rack. I'm thinking of fixing up a spare trunk lid, with a rack, so I can have one of each, and switch anytime that I want.

BTW, I have a few spare trunk lids if you are interested. They are pictured at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v26/v ... e%20parts/. $40 - $50 each, depending on condition. Located in Zip 93003 (Ventura, CA).
