brown wire surgery

Post by dulcimerbob »

I bought some wire to do the BWS on my 76 . when I looked at the brown wire on my switch it has a smaller gauge wire already attached to it . My switch has the push on spade terminals. Any ideas what this small wire does?

I just did my 76. My ignition switch also has the spade connectors. There are two #30 spades. I used the recommended #10 for my upgrade. I found the existing wire to be about a #14-16 guage. Guess this is why the brown wire fix is so important. Make sure to solder your new female connector to the 10 ga wire and get the insulator boot properly fitted. Unless you used an in-line fuse (I didn't) a short of this new wire would be ugly.
