Distributor overhaul: low friction plate needed

Does anyone know where to get the thin, low-friction plate that goes beneath the centrifugal advance weights for our distributors?. This material seems to be cracked, crumpled, or missing, from the few distributors that I have disassembled. In particular, I'm working on an early - mid 70's Marelli distributor identified with S144CBY 401R1-401P1 6G. The material that I'm referring to is brown, with a slick surface, about .015" thick. Asbestos maybe??? If the item is unavailable, any suggestions for what material to use, to try to make a replacement. Nylon? Teflon? Delrin? It would have to hold up to the heat in the distributor area, and have a low friction characteristic.

My guess is that the distributor would work OK without it, as it has been doing for years with the material virtually gone already, but I thought it would be a good idea to put something in there if I could find it.

I have one from a rusty old not complete distributor. Is it sort of square with 2 radius slots and notches around the outside? you are welcome to it. I would think fiber based micarta could be used as a replacemant material. It is not perfect but usable?

Thanks Hal. That's better shape than the pieces that I have, and may work OK. If not, it will serve as a good pattern to make a replacement. I'll be contacting you.

The material is Phenolic. There are several versions, but you probably want the canvas or linen. Do a google search, many places sell small thin sheets, or thick chunks. You have to mill it though, its pretty tough.
