Substitute replacement cooling fan?

Post by zachmac »

So, if I want to dump the stock cooling fan for a lighter more modern one what are peopel running with success? I know a 14" spal will work but they tend to be pricey. Anyone had good luck with a less expensive alternative? What size, brand, how many CFM, etc. details if you please.

So, at 37 views and no repsonse does that mean there is one other interested member who keepschecking back to see if there is an answer or that there is no answer? Someone must be running an aftermarket fan other than a spal?

Do a search on radiator cooling fan. There are plenty of aftermarket posts and pictures

I'm actually quite happy with the original but have heard of the Spal upgrade

Pope,

That search will yeild 139 hits and ONE thread that actually discusses replacement fans and that thread mostly discusses a spal fan that works and a cheap fan that didn't do so well. I read / scanned all 139 BEFORE posting my question. However, I do appreciate you assuming I was lazy or stupid. :P

Meanwhile I am still seeking the answer to the quesion I posed which is "Is anyone running something other than a spal with success?"

BTW, having checked out alternatives at Jegs / etc. it looks like spal fans are not all that expensive in comparison to the options. I think "spal ain't that expensive" might be the answer to my question.
