Have cowl air vent grills always been plastic?

Post by nurflugel9 »

I see that the plastic cowl vent grills on my 1984 are starting to crack and deteriorate.
I need to find a source for a replacement, but also wonder if the early models used metal grills instead of plastic as I would much rather replace them with something more durable.
Can any early model owners answer if their vent grills are metal or plastic?

The grills on my '69 and '71 are both plastic and in good shape. As far as I know, all model years were plastic. It shouldn't be too hard to find a new set, and I see them on Ebay occasionally. The Fiat vendors might also sell them.

The Hawaiian sun must be pretty intense. I bought a used black Jaguar sedan that was only 3 years old when I bought it, but it came from Hawaii and the paint on the top and hood was already starting to get hazy.

All plastic. The vents are the same across all of the years if I recall correctly. Though the Azzurra has a unique cowling to accommodate the windshield washer bottle, the vents are the same. They're easy to find.
