My father test-drove a brand new '68 Spider for a couple of days, and I recall our drive around our suburbs VERY well!
I remember him saying "watch this", and he took a 90 degree corner at 40 mph without slowing- I don't think the car leaned at all, and the tires hardly squealed. I was amazed. Red with a black interior,...

Thanks for this "blast from the past"! I'm pretty sure this article was one of the things my dad read before deciding to purchase his '69 spider in the Summer of 1969, and it's one of two spiders that I have today.

At the time, the technical aspects of the spider were clearly ahead of the competition from MG, Austin, Datsun, etc. That changed with the introduction of the 240Z, though. Fortunately, the styling of the spiders remains classic and timeless to this day.

Brian, that’s pbb very true about the 240Z. And we owed many thanks to Tom Tjaarda for his timeless design…(check out his previous design: the Innocenti 950 spider, and you can see on there the future 124 lines)
