Power windows or no??

Post by warrenrhen »

I see that I can buy manual window regulators and crank handles. My windows barely move electrically. Will wireing relays into the system make them reasonably fast or should I just convert to manual windows?

I installed relays on my 83 and the windows fly up and down now. Hid the relays inside the door panels and mounted the new fuses on the driver side fender well. Couple hours to do it all and the hardest part was fishing the wiring thru the firewall.
My $0.02 is far easier to do relays than conversion.
Good luck!

I bought a set of relays from Jon Logan at Midwest 124, Yet to install them. I am sure they will improve the performance.
I cleaned the connections behind the door panels and cleaned the connections at the relay this helped too.
An alternator rebuild helped some more.
I like the modernity of power windows.
