Seat covers

Post by rjkoop »

Looking to replace the front seat/headrest upholstery. Got a local price to get them done for $800 CDN a piece. A little pricey for what I wanted so I'll probably do them myself. Any ever used these guys before? They seem to have the best price.

My seats color is the pretty typical light beige color which I think would be the Sierra Vinyl/Chamois (the color in their pictures).

Yes!
I love the material and the fit - but it took me a bit to get some of the details the way a 'perfectionist' would want them,...

Found the thread... https://fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic.ph ... upholstery

Looks awesome. I see that you reformed the seat foam. I may try the same because mine doesn't have much cushioning left. Or maybe just buy these.

I'm sure that those would save some time,...$120 each, though,...
I had to deal with some damage to my seatbacks, and so I found "upholstery foam". Searched on eBay, and bought the stiffest foam (extra dense upholstery foam) I could find. Cheap, free shipping, and REALLY nice foam! A turkey carving knife, high grit sanding pad, contact cement FOR FOAM (there's a link in my thread), and you can build about anything! Amazing,...
So I did foam repair on all four pads in the front, and some touchup on the two in the rear. It really was an easy (and kinda fun!) project! Especially when the result is as nice as mine came out,...
The only thing that did not come out "perfect" is my method of attaching the upholstery at the lower back of the front seats - the hog rings are slightly exposed (but ya can't see it at all, unless you lower the seatback forward to access the rear seat ("package area"). Everything else is beautiful, and looks as good today, as it did when I finished it. I really LOVE the vinyl, and the color matches the original perfectly.
Best of luck with your's! Todd.

I used them as well. great product. I get a lot of complements on the seats. take your time and they will look great. if using your original foam, I would build it up with some new; glue it on and then can shape it. I believe that is part of Todd's post.

Thanks.

And I have the typical light tan colored seats. I assume that's what they call chamois?
