Dash swaps...

Post by Hawke187 »

OK,

Here is another issue, I have a set of 76 gauges that I want to run in my 78, I am going to be installing a dash cap on the 78 soon, but I have found out that the 78 is a late year model without the center bump for the gauge cluster.

Can I install a dash cap that has the bump over the existing bumpless dash?
And if so can I just trim the 78's dash cluster to fit over the bump if there are problems with the 76 gauges?

Seems simple, I know, but perhaps others have tried this and have some pointers.

I realy like the look of the bump in the dash, minor I know but hey its my car isnt it?

Well any info would be good.

Thanks in advance.

IF you still have the dash from your 76.. (provided it is not toast) you can swap them easily enough and then cap... or you can email bruce over at the parts bin and he can send you one of his nice new padded reproduction dashes.
