ignition switch relay

Post by aguiarj »

Hi everyone,

Own 1980 with FI. Problem recently one night with car engine, lights, everything cutting out as I am rolling along at 100KM. luckily I was on a service road with a shoulder and was able to pull over.

Anyone know what is an ignition switch relay? does it exist:?:

Checking with IAP they indicate that if you change the ignition switch, there are no immediate or remote relays that you should change out (as a preventative maintenance).

Anyone seen or heard of this?

Early cars with points had an ignition mode relay that was used for switching between the two sets of points. One of the weak points of the Spider is that all of the current runs through the switch

the FI cars didn't use the ign mode relay since they had electronic ign.
