Bumperettes

Hi all -

I know that there have been many threads on this subject, and there's no need to recount all of them. I just can't get my head around paying $400+ for a set of Abarth bumperettes... especially when I only want a front pair (leaving the rear bar intact).

So - I'm working out how to take a pair of rear bumperettes from a Porsche 911 that I picked up for $50 new, and attach them to the front bumper shock mounts (that have been collapsed a little).

I'll post some photos when I've done it - but initial testing looks fairly ok....

Update: Here are some (very bad) photos of them attached with tape. Proper mountings shortly.

I like them... they'll make your car a little more unique..

I like 'em too. Their shape complements the front of the car nicely. I think I like them better than the actual Abarth style.

what model year Porsche did you get them off of?

If memory serves me correctly, they're a 2004 Boxster replacement...

Part #s 986 505 426 and 986 505 425

... which I think means they're from a 986

A quick look on ebay - and these look the right ones....

No, Brad is a purest and I respect him for that. He's a bright guy.
IMO though if we were talking about the Dino owned by PinninF I'd agree with him.
A 124 that was produced in the hundreds of thousands though? Not so much.

Got it - nope. I live in Texas, I value the additional protection afforded to my rear end that the stock bar gives (and that might be a perceived protection rather than actual!). Plus I like to think that perhaps the slightly extra weight on the back end gets the power down better!
