what is the accessory socket power port used for?

What was intended to go into the accessory socket power port underneath the driver side dashboard of my 1985 Pininfarina Spider?

there was an inspection light available that used this socket for power

Once in a while at Fiat Freak Out, you'll see someone with that inspection light, displaying it along with the owner's manual & tools...

dryer vent is part of my air conditioner. Just saw a picture online of the utility light. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of those.
