Today is the day, I will make my lights work.

Gotta love that wiring . . .

Do you have the round hazard switch? They are notorious for being bad. The lights in my '82 did all sorts of goofy stuff until I rePlaced mine. Somewhere there is a link to a possible repair, but I just replaced mine. There is also a BMW 2002 one that interchanges and is sometimes cheaper.

Here's a link to the BMW info:

I think the ChicagoFLU website used to have repair instructions, but they seem to be gone. All of my electrical issues have been due to three things: ign switch, bad grounds and the hazard switch. Good luck.

And gentlemen, we have running lights. . . . and half a license plate light.

The source of my problem is the bulb is not receiving enough voltage. To use this as a strength I altered the socket and replaced with an LED bulb that embraces the low voltage and offers a bright promising lifespan.

I plan to come full circle and make sure all my lights and electrical are receiving the right voltage (including but not limited to taking out the rust on that bulb, thanks Jim), but for now I take this as a victory and can finally have my baby street legal as of tomorrow. Blinkers, check. Running lights, check. Headlights, check. Annoying rattling at the back of exhaust because chap before me had interesting "fixes", check.

Oh yeah! Hazard light is next on my list. Good to know we have a back up for replacements with the bmw part. Thanks Trey.

I'll pull it to see if its just a simple repair. Haha I would not say to that Jay.
