78 light switch replacing. Could it fix my problem?

Post by archiethe3rd »

I am new to the Fiat Spider forum. I just got a 78 that is in good shape and sat garaged most of it's life. Is a 3-way toggle switch to control the lights normal. I assume it is because the metal piece around the switch says LIGHTS. At the top is OFF, middle is RUNNING LIGHTS and down is everything ON. Running lights work, headlights on, dash lights go out(except the little green ones in the instruments), rear lights may work or not. If you jimmy the switch different combos of all these scenarios can happen. There is a lot of play in the switch. Is it just the switch? How do you replace, it's hard to get to, and is it a hardware store item?
