Dead starter?

Gotta love that wiring . . .

My wife's Spider spins with the starter again. I ended up installing a new starter and it spins fine. I'm even using the factory cables and the same battery that came with the car.
I did as suggested and checked that connector upstream of the starter, and it was slathered in di-electric grease. So someone has tried to take care of this car in the past.
Thanks so much for everyone's time and input.

Glad to hear this is resolved. Let us know when it runs. Got any pics?

I've read the FAQ's on posting pics, but can't seem to figure it out.
The project I'm working on is a little more involved than a distributor and a dead starter.
I'm in the middle of a throttle body fuel injection swap on this car. It was almost running last week when the starter quit. I've converted several older V8's to TBI, this is my first 4cyl. Once it's running, it will be fine tuned by someone other than me. My goal for this conversion is driveability and readily available parts.
If I figure out how to post pics, I'll show you all what I'm doing.
Thanks

here is an easy way to do pix.
reduce the width of the pic to 700 pixel max. you can do this with any photoshop program. if you have more than one pic, line them up in a column and save as a single file.
go to a free site called Hosting Bytes! 2.0
Hit the browse button and select your picture file, then hit the upload button. the picture should appear. copy the forumlink #1 box and paste it into your text here.
hit the preview button at the bottom of this page to see if it took.

Our 78 Spider
Image

It's in pretty decent shape overall. It has a couple of rust holes in one rocker and rust over both rear wheel wells. 68K miles. It has been repainted at least once and was a Kansas car since new. Floors, trunk and shock towers are all solid.
