Had a scare this morning

Post by rlux4 »

I went to take the Spider out for a drive this morning and the only things that would work were the starter and headlights. No horn, gauges, courtesy light.. dead.
Even though there were too many things not working for it to be fuses I checked them all anyway, they were good.
I got out my copy of Brad Artigue's electrical diagrams and the page for ignition and power distribution shows a wire at the starter that feeds the problem areas, so I checked for a tight connection and it was good. ?
Back to Brad's diagrams.
Meanwhile I thought what we're all told time and time again when something goes wrong all of the sudden; "what did you do last?"
The last thing I had done was put a new starter in. Since then I'd driven to BFI and a lot of driving with the central Cal. Fiat America group and it was fine.
However, seeing as both the diagrams and the "check the last thing" advice both pointed to the starter I went back out and took a closer look. Sure enough, the black wire wasn't attached to the solenoid lug. It must have just been touching it for the BFI driving and then lost contact.
I connected it and voila! I had a running car.
Whew! Dodged a bullet.

That's where it came from all right.

Guys visiting his friend, he comments on all the cement animals he's got in his front yard. "I see you have deer, rabbits, squirrels and just about every other animal here, but I don't see any badgers." His friend says "Badgers.........
