Although in the article John speaks of the Marelliplex the FIAT-Marelli electronic distributor caused the same issue with all types when retrofitted to an earlier, formerly points-type, vehicle.
It seems that PF4684-ND or E4684-ND can't be sourced from the digikey comp.
I will try to contact them for a solution.

easier than calling for obsolete part numbers, I typed 0,68µf 400 V on G....E, and got several answers to buy them online.
ordered mine from conrad online shop.
