Finally installed my 95 amp alternator Christmas present LOL

Post by 4uall »

my beautiful wife completely surprised me Christmas 2011 with a brand new 95 amp alternator from Autoricambi. Not really sure why it has taken so long for me to do this. Probably fear of screwing up an always working, never having electrical issues Fiat. Took the plunge and done. Also put in a new belt for it. First improvement was the signal lights that no longer slow down when the brakes are applied. Will check lights later tonight. Sadly wipers the same  relays coming soon. So now it looks like I may be selling a 65 amp Bosh alternator.

Let me know what you think of it. I'd like to eventually replace the 65 on my '81. Was it difficult to do? I would think it would be fairly easy. Does that little red light come on anymore, the one you can only see at night? :)

I had never done it before so there was some challenges (had to remove the oil filter). The original lower bolt was so long that at one point I thought I was going to pull the rad  Lots of good lighting and some patience and she fit great. Not sure about the light I will have to get back to you on that one :?

Not sure if this is good news or bad news however, the red light did not show up :? Lights, both high & low are much brighter and the car just seems to start better (probably all in my head)

Good news. It's the alternator light. When it's on, and in most of our cases there's a soft glow, the alternator is struggling.

Well that is a relief for sure :D I do remember seeing the occasional glow in the past and I thought I was seeing things as it was every now and then.
