Problems starting

Post by joelittel »

Hey guys,

I have developed an intermittent starting problem. When I put the key in the ignition two red lights On the dashboard are supposed to illuminate. One under a battery icon and one under an oil icon. 50% of the time the light by the oil icon does not illuminate. And as you all probably know, this means the car will not start. Our fix so far has been to remove the key and try again. Usually this works within a few trys but we can't let this go and I'd like to fix the problem. I should add, if both lights illuminate our car fires right up and is ready to roll every time.

As always I really appreciate your help,

Joe

The first place I would look is at the ignition switch . Sounds like its not making good contact sometimes. The next time it does it, take a volt meter to the contacts of the switch. I betcha find the problem there.

Thanks and will do. One interesting detail is that my wife claims to never have this problem. Could she be turning the key diferently than I do?
