Replacing backplate of ECU

Ever since I got my Fiat last year, I have read these forums for every problem that I could come up with, but I haven't found a solution to this yet.

Yesterday I decided to try and pop out the ECU to do some testing on the sensors. It was held up by one plastic nut holding a bracket in the front and a bracket in the back.
I took it down, and then unscrewed the 2 screws on the back(side without the connection) of the ECU.
Now the screw holes on the cover wont line up with the bracket on the inside of the ECU. I didn't try to move it around too much for fear of breaking something on the inside. Is this some way to tell that someone was tampering with it, or should those screws go back in correctly?

If I remember correctly there are two boards of printed circuits inside the ECU case, those, the case and the back all have to line up to get it so slide back together. When they are lined up it should slip right in.
