Trunk light in 79 spider

I have recently replaced the bulb in my 79 spider trunk light. The light is only on when the lights are on or in parking mode. The trunk light does not go off when I close the trunk lid. Is this normal?

Yes this is normal Fiat didn't bother with a switch. Just makes you a love their engineers or bean counters.

My '75 spider has a switch near the driver side hinge in the trunk, light is on passenger side. Trunk light on with parking lights AND trunk open.
