wires going into the door?

wires going into the door?

i have two wires that go from my door post into my door. as far as i know i have nothing that requires power in my door. what would these be for? its a 1979 fiat spider. thank you

I believe that they wired up the capability for power windows in all the Spiders around this time. My '80 has the same thing. There was a large amount of power window wiring behind the center/radio console that I was able to remove, like maybe 20 + feet total. There are also wires in that area that go to the door switch that turns on the courtesy light, but these don't enter the door itself.

it would be nice if i could utilize them for power door locks. but on a spider, thats almost pointless!! :P

When I do the seats and carpet the seat belt chime wires are toast too. Getting all the superfluous junk out!

Those power window lines behind the dash are hot all the time. I wired in a three-socket cigarette lighter splitter to one of these and put it in the glove compartment to charge my cell phone and power my Garmin GPS. Another goes to the always-on wire on my stereo to keep the memory alive when the ignition is off. No need to go in and tap into the cigarette lighter or fuse box for juice. Of course, if you have power windows .... :?
