Clock bulb: off-the-shelf at Canadian Tire

After a week of scouring the Internet, I have found the answer. You guys & gals will, no doubt, already know this, but I felt I should share lest someone else be condemned to a wasted week of excruciating false leads, dead ends, and lies!

The clock bulb is a 12v 3w Ba9s bulb. It's about 22mm from tip to tip, and 11mm wide. I found a post on this forum that acknowledges Ricambi America (a Ferrari parts supplier) as having the correct part. But at $15 shipping for a $2 part, I wanted to find something locally. Hence, my descent into the heart of darkness that is light bulb manufacturers' websites.

Anyway, The bulb you want, should you seek it, is readily available at Canadian Tire:
Brand: General Electric
Model: T4W
Price: $3.99 for a pack of two

They are longer than the originals, which concerned me since I wasn't sure if they would fit. But they do. AND, apparently they are also used for some of the warning lights and the cigarette lighter illumination.

I lived in Edmonton in the 80's, and Fort Mcmurray, Dam cold
I was in Fort McMurray on a day it was -45C in december.
I dont miss those days,
Today in San Jose it is 72F and sunny, nicer weather for a convertible

I replaced my burned out clock bulb last week. In BC we have Lordco, jobber store, that has been great for sourcing some parts for the spider, I've bought master cilinders, front crank seals, gasket sets, timing belts, clutch kits, metric nuts and bolts and of course those funny unique bulbs. Lordco will make it to Alberta when they get a wharehouse sorted in northern BC. Untill then you're lucky to have Fred and Mario at Ital Motors in your back yard

My son is welding up in Fort Mac, Sincrude site, and there was a bit of complaining about the temp, but the paycheques kinda cancel that out.
I've also worked in that kind of temp, and then had a helicopter hovering over head while hooking up logs. Only a couple of hours of that and went back to the motel and drank some common sence.

Yeah - the packaging in the photo at the link you provided is exactly the same as what I found at Canadian Tire.

I finally got around to changing my clock bulb with one of these from Amazon. (Fortunately it was a burned out bulb, not wiring.) A bit fiddly to get at without removing either the clock or Speedo cable, but small, extra-long nose pliers helped.

Although the bulb portion of these replacements is about 1/4" (6mm) deeper than the apparently original burned out bulb, the bayonet base is the same and it fits and works just fine.

There is an article in today's Wall St. Journal about Canadian Tire money. Apparently it has been quite a thing in Canada and we in the U. S. don't know about it. Anyway, it is being phased out, so, LGuertin, it's just as well that you have moved out of Canada to balmy California.
