Turn signals quit when I turn headlights on

Post by roy »

Hi Folks,
Got a problem with my recently purchased 79 spider 2000, seems when I turn the headlights on the turn signals quit working. It also happens when I just turn the running lights on. Any help would be appreciated as I'm new to Fiats. Thx

Likely it's a bad ground, probably by the taillights. Could also be a bad connection on one of the rear taillight circuit boards.

I'll vote for the bad ground.
Mine was located at both "star"ground connectors at the front fenders.

yes i would turn on the lights and blinkers the go poke around with the ground tab connectors
small pliers
dielectric grease smear every thing
and with some luck it will start blinking
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

cleaning the ground pods will fix your problem. there is two in the engine bay at the front and one under the dash by the steering wheel. remove and clean the pods with mild acid and replace the end connectors with new ones after stripping new wire from the ends and again clean with mild acid. This my friend was the solution to my electrical problems.
