fuel problem

It's a 81 model. I've already replaced the fuel pump relay.

the flap in the Air Flow Meter has to open in order for the pump to continue to run. If the boot is split, or the flap is stuck the pump won't run.

Mark is talking about the AFM part that has 4 bolts holding it to your
air filter box and had a wireharness with a black plug running to it .

If you remove the airfilter you'll see the flap the with your finger
push on it to see if it opens ? and freely should have some tension
but not a lot .
The hose from the AFM running to the Intake Manifold those can
crack over time and will do so along the ribs so it is hard to see
the hole or crack and easy way to fix this is use Electrical tape
if you clean off the hoses real well that will get it started till you
can buy a new one .
Also check the other hoses running into this one if you have leaks
your Engine will not run as well .
