so if ther no spark and i changed the modular and the rotor and cap and new plugs and coil and magnet coli ? what ever u call it ,. and still no spark. wwhat eles is ther

test the positive wire from the key,if nothing with key on then your ignition is probably shot

if testing a voltage reg on the car, key on, would there show power to both sides , testing with a test light only

ok if both sides are powerd up and i connect the modular to the wires that it suppose to be,should ther be power on the outlet part of the modular?

no spark off the coil itself, tested 12 v on plus side and neg side. took and hooked up the coil wire and tested for any spark

You don't say what year you are having the problem with. If it's a later model year, I had that problem and it was the ignition control module mounted behind the coil.

According to the factory manual if you have voltage at the coil and the coil resistances are good then you disconnect the high voltage wire at the distributor and hold it 5 mm from ground and crank the engine to see if you get a spark. If you don't then you replace the module.

According to the manual coil resistances should be 0.75 to 0.81 across the primary and 10-11,000 from primary to secondary.

from what i was just told now from a mechanic. IF i got power to the negitive side WHEN just the key is on, there something wrong, there shall be no power to the neg side untill the engine is turning over as in fireing
well there power to neg when the key is on the on position
so what wrong ?
