I don't want to play favorites, I have purchased items from various sources with good results. But I just had one of those "extra mile" experiences that I would like to share.
I am in the process of a complete overhaul on my Spider and I stumbled across David at DaytonaSpyder.com on eBay. I asked a few questions and he asked for my phone number. Turns out the guy is a source for information and parts. He is building me an engine just how I wanted it, using new internals and a reman block and SAVING ME A BOATLOAD even after shipping!! Still not a cheap venture, but it will be done right and give me a fresh engine. He is also helping me with various other parts I am needing.
Anyway, I think he went the extra mile on this one and I wanted to share my experience. I have purchased from him off of eBay in the past and if you do that have patience!! He doesn't have alot of help, doesn't seem too good with computers anyway, and is fighting cancer at the moment.
I would recomend sending him an email with your phone number so he can call you directly, but be warned that he is a talker. His website is http://www.daytonaspyder.com
For anyone who cares here is what he is building me:
2000 block with new oil and water pumps
HC pistons, new bearings all around
various other things that I never would have thought of, and still don't really know what they are.
Modified auxilery shaft to eliminate possible contact with crankshaft
balanced/polished crankshaft
1800 head with stainless valves and upgraded springs
all new parts in the valve train.
New magnetic distributor and related ignition parts
Dual Empi IDF 40 carbs on a pierce manifold with linkage, filters, etc...
Cams, pullies, timing stuff, everything...
Bench tested and tuned with reguard to timing, cams, carbs, ect...
He even let me pick the color the block will be painted!!
Everything covered by a 12 month 12,000 warranty.
I couldn't buy all the parts for my local machine shop to work on my existing engine for what I am paying for the whole package.
There is a good chance I will have my car done by this fall, just in time for the good weather!!!
