Hi every one, The more I look at my car the more over spray I see. What would be the best way to remove the paint from the rubber weather stripping? Also from the plastic inner wheel wells? Seems to take forever with paint thinner and I'm thinking acetone might be too harsh for the weather stripping. Looking for opinions and what others have done. I’m thinking about just painting the inner wheel wells black or will that just crack/peel over time?
Thanks.

Re: Paint overspray removal
not sure how well it works on the rubber pieces but it worked great on my motorcycles and a car i use to have.
the Clay bars get rid of it and i would think that it would work on rubber cause it worked on vinyl when i was really careful.

Put lacquer thinner on a rag and rub only on the plastic parts. Works great

The most popular aftermarket paint type is urethane, and it is very difficult to remove once cured. Stop by your favorite body shop and ask them to put a little "reducer" on a rag. If that works, you can get a quart where they buy it. This is nasty stuff; wear gloves and work outdoors.

Thanks guys for the responses. I'll have to give some of the suggestions a try this weekend. The hardest part is not getting it on the paint. Well I had to look up "clay bar", never heard of it before. Learned something new. The trunk/lid seal is realy bad. You would think that they would have just pulled it off before paint. Anyway......

Oh, you're not talking a little overspray then. I had to use a razor blade to scrape the heaviest portion of paint off of the rubber and other parts of my car when I had it apart. I then used a little lacquer thinner on a rag to get the residue off. The clay bar is great for getting grit and light overspray off your paint. It makes it nice and smooth so your wax will last longer and you get a nicer shine.
