1976 FIAT Spider

Post by DoctorPDR »

Now here's a pic of a 1976 Fiat Spider I saw on the IAP Website. Apparently this guy has frenched in LED tail lights. The hood pins are from a later model Shelby Mustang. Actually, I thought of installing a lockable set on my car. Wish they would have shown more pictures. The paint job is UGLY and I have some other negative thoughts about the car, but to each their own.

interesting. We installed a set of the locking pins for a customer, sure makes it a pain to open the hood

I like it but do not understand the black stripes on the fenders.

Are you guy's sure it's a 76? hood and fender cures look different from mine and the caption below say's 81.
Looks sharp though, I think the black stripes take away from the look where they are placed.

Location: Rocky Mountains....UTAH! (Not Colorado)

the black stripes seem to be an effort to remind us of the vintage-racing-types. Not that Fiat/Abarth used them, but any who frequent vintage races have probably seen something similar. I've seen it most frequently on old Datsuns.

I'm confused by the car. I think it may be having an identity crisis. Had he gone with the center stripes, I'd be good with that. Had he gone with the black-stripes on the fenders, I'd be good with that. But both just seems wrong. I'm also going to lose some sleep over the '80's/90's-style treatment of the body. It's like they wanted it to be a Camaro. :?:
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

I believe the black stripes are called "rookie" stripes, however they are typically on only one fender.

And what about closing the hood Mark? Equally challenging? I think it would be more difficult.

Mark,
Did you leave the hood lock in place after installing the locking pins?
