Try buying them at an Aussie exchange rate of $0.70 plus freight. Circa $600

i like the look of the car in the logo up top... how dangerous is that ? I guess a minor fender bender and it would total the car maybe.. wouldnt insurance bail out on it since you didnt have legal bumpers ? I wonder what the ramifications are..
Id like to yank the bumpers and the cat and drive around Florida like I own the place.. Something tells me the police wont mind. but i could be wrong there i havent tried it yet. .

Go ahead and do it, I am. As someone said in an earlier post about the cars with giant tires and wheels down in the 'hood' "nothing is illegal in Florida"

Why are those little bumpers so expensive?

Last time I checked in the sky I saw the Southern Cross.

Last time I looked in my garage there was a Fiat Spider in there.

Yes we do have Fiat in Aus. Although the spiders where not a factory delivery because our steering wheels face backwards. Man the conversion was a pain in butt.

go ahead and make them up for $50 a set, it's a piece of cake. As for removing the bumper, any fender-bender will total your car whether you have a bumper or not. If the insurance company questions why it isn't there, tell them it was torn off in the accident and a bystander ran off with it. Since you couldn't leave the scene of an accident you couldn't chase him

Nice yellow car. I can see it was a LHD converted to RHD simply by looking at which way the wiper blades operate. Thats unless the spider is different than the rest of RHD cars. Now i don't remember. But anyways I think the bumperette pricing is a scam myself. Even the extra $100 they want for the mounting kit. I think its the case of someone wanting alot of profit and someone else going if he gets that much then i want that much for mine too. kinda like a $2 grand exhaust system.

I don't know why they cost so much either since they don't even fit perfectly. I have a set I'm thinking of using on my 71 but haven't made up my mind whether to do that or reinstall the chrome bumper.

You can be as creative as this guy and make your own. Seems he made them out of compressed wood (particle board) and covered them with fiber glass.

Edit: Found out he is a member on this forum:

thanks for the advice.. I think im going to make a mold and then fill them with liquid vinyl plastic. Then ill sell a set of 4 for $100 bucks... i can cook them in my oven at 350F just like chicken. Ill see if I can make some that actually fit right.. A small baking pan would probably make a mold just fine. Also arent there a hundred other car brands that use or can use bumperettes ? I see your point I love the way it looks on that yellow car. awesome that is so cool looking.. but i see your point about them not helping in case of an accident.. nobody is going to run right into your bumperette.
Im taking the bumpers off.. are the cops gonna yell at me in Florida ?
