Dreaded Top Hinge Another fix & Reinforcement

A few days ago I was reading Mike Bouse hinge repair and thought to take a look at mine now that I'm in the middle of a restoration. Ouch! I had it bad on the drivers side top. Completely cracked all around and ready to fall to the curb. I had to cut a large section of the door inner panel to get at it. See the following link for pics if it helps you. After the repair I refitted the hinges and door to check the alignment after adding the support plate that is just a tad thicker than the hinge support metal. Seeing that I'm doing a full restoration and expensive paint job I would rather know now if I had a problem with fit. Adding this plate does not cause any issues with alignment and lots of extra adjustment available.

Hmmmm.. after that,I might have to bite it and look at the pass side of my 80. From the rear of the door,I can lift it and see a bit of movement at the hinges. I've always thought the doors did'nt close just right.
The car is going in soon anyway to get a bit of body work done...
The jack broke free in the trunk(did'nt have secured properly) and the end where one attatches the ratchet, slamed into the inside of the fender,leaving a couple of dings on the outside of the fender.
