I have just caught up with the bumper string posted earlier, I love what you have done with your bumpers, and would like to do the same.
How big were the holes you drilled and can you give me an accurate idea of where you drilled them ? eg thick or thin barrel on the shock or both ? My bumpers are off and I would like to do this mod. I notice that the rubber fins can be angled out to avoid the body by packing washers in. Did you need to do this ? How did you seal the drilled holes ?

Hey baz, until ga spyder shows up, maybe I can help.

I just got mine done the other day and I love the look. It's the best mod I've done cosmetically since I got the car and best of all, it was free!

Just drill a couple of small holes pretty much anywhere in the shock tube, but make sure to drill it at the bottom because they could still be under pressure and you wouldn't want the fluid to get on the paint. Also, watch your face, it could come out pretty hard! If the fluid comes out, you got it made, you should be able to take a sledge hammer and tap it to make it move. My front ones went like that, but my back ones didn't release any fluid and I really had to crack on those shocks to get em to move. I actually took the rear bumper off so I could really swing on the shock itself. Yours are already off, so it should be pretty easy.

Thanks speedracer, your Spidy looks real nice, did you have to plug the holes after you drilled them ? What ensures the bumper stays at the new distance ? What size drill ?

Sorry Baz, I have been working out of town,then away last weekend and didnt see your post.I did exactly what speedracer did,except I didnt remove my bumpers to tuck them in.Mine were a little easier than his to move,although they did need a little persuasion I used a 3/16 bit to drill,and put the hole as far back into the larger tube as I could.I used a self tapping screw thru the same hole to pin them in place.I didnt use anything to shim the rubber parts,I just adjusted them to where they didnt touch the fender.Good luck,they look really good when done.
