wheels

ok, this may sound strange, but, I've always liked the spoked wheels that the english sports cars had. Has anyone been able to get anything like that for a Fiat Spider?

Thanks for the help

I remember that someone had them on a car that was on ebay a few years back. It might have been that they were silver and not a very good looking silver but I think I was blinded for about a week from the site of them. I would think that they would work if you had the early style bumpers and the car was riding on the early springs that had the car lower than the two tube 4x4 look of the 75 and later models. I now that the wheels have a hub that is bolted on to the wheel hub and the wire rims go over that with th wing nut holding it all on. Daytons are the same way .I would think that you would be able to have them make you a couple of hubs to bolt onto a spider for the rims to go onto.

It's odd, but whereas wire wheels always look great on English sports cars and classic Ferraris, they just don't look RIGHT on Spiders. Don't ask me why.

In a similar odd vein Panasports ( Minilites ) look good on ANY car. Go figure.

Wire wheels look quite nice. However, they are a devil to keep clean and when they warp it takes a specialist to true them (that's if they don't get bent).

I actually have a set of wire wheels for a Spider that I'm not using. They're not in excellent shape, but they do look quite nice and give the car a unique look. If you're interested in possibly buying/trading them from me, I can send some pictures and we'll talk.

Any takers?

For what it's worth, I saw a Mazda MX5 on wires a few weeks back, so there is something about that would suit a spider.
