New member here from the southern New Jersey area. I'm embarking on a restoration/upgrade project with my father's (now my) '81 Spider, bought new in '82 and in the family ever since. It's been a goal ever since I took ownership a few years ago and now it's time to get underway. My background is in 90's Subarus, so working on something older and Italian should be interesting and I expect to be using the search function quite a bit.
I'll be starting with suspension and brakes for now so as to maximize fun and safety during the summer driving season, but ultimately the bodywork will have to be substantially overhauled. Rear quarters have some mild rust, and a respray from at least 20 years ago seems to have mostly faded/flaked down to the metal. (At least the car is silver so bystanders can't tell what's paint and what's bare.) But it runs and drives, tracks straight and true, doesn't pull under braking and always puts a big dumb grin on my face.
Here's a couple older photos. I'll snap a few more when I get a chance. Looking forward to being part of the community!
